About Us

New York Truck Work Fire Tactics: Built on Service, Forged by Experience. We are a veteran-owned training company led by instructors from the FDNY, DOD, and premier East Coast departments. Headquartered in Leland, North Carolina, and operating a dedicated Northern Division in New York’s Hudson Valley, we deliver real-world tactical discipline required to succeed under pressure. We don’t just teach tactics; we instill excellence through repetition and disciplined execution.

Training

At New York Truck Work Fire Tactics, we build a survival mindset through relentless, hands-on training. From fast-paced city shops to rural departments, our workshops are custom-tailored to your exact objectives. Through a mix of classroom lecture, hands-on training, and realistic scenarios, we ensure you’re not just learning tactics—you’re putting them to work.

We offer flexible training options tailored to your department’s schedule:

Our Mission

Is to deliver competent, capable firefighters through safe, aggressive, and realistic training. Beyond technical skills, we instill the mindset and discipline needed to operate in a physically and mentally demanding environment.

The Senior Man Behind the Mission

Owned and operated since 2021 by FDNY veteran and third-generation firefighter Kirk Smith, New York Truck Work Fire Tactics delivers elite training forged in the field. Kirk’s 30+ year fire career spans volunteer service in Nanuet, NY; career firefighting in North Carolina (West Area FD and Fort Bragg FD); and over two decades in the South Bronx with Tower Ladder 17.

Alongside his fire service, Kirk is a 20-year U.S. Army veteran who retired as an Infantry Squad Leader (SSG) with two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a certified National Fire Instructor and former firehouse senior man, Kirk and his team combine military discipline with aggressive firefighting tactics to bring unmatched, real-world training directly to your department.
